Dambulla Cave Temples: This cave monastery is the largest and best-preserved cave-temple complex in Sri Lanka. It’s a sacred pilgrimage site that’s been in use for 2,200 years. The complex features five sanctuaries, Buddhist murals, and 157 statues. The complex is located on a rock that towers 160 meters above the surrounding plains.
SIGIRIYA OR SINHAGIRI :Sigiriya or Sinhagiri is an ancient rock fortress located in the northern Matale District near the town of Dambulla in the Central Province, Sri Lanka.
Sigiriya Lion Rock is an ancient rock fortress known for its massive column of rock that reaches nearly 200 meters high. The site dates back to the reign of King Kasyapa (477-495 AD), who chose this site as his new capital. He decorated the walls with frescoes, and built an impressive palace right on top of the rock column, accessible only through the mouth of an enormous carved lion.
Sigiriya Rock and the Dambulla Cave Temples are both UNESCO World Heritage sites in Sri Lanka. Some say that one day is enough time to visit both sites.
PINNAWALA-Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, is a captive breeding and conservation institute for wild Asian elephants located at Pinnawala village, 13 km northeast of Kegalle town in Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka.
